Mia Strauss, DNP, PMHNP
Doctorate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Mia (she/her/they/them) completed 2 undergraduate degrees (Physiology and Nursing) as well as her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Washington in Seattle. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Mia worked as a Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital on the inpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit.
Mia believes that a client-clinician relationship grounded in mutual trust. As an ARNP, Mia may diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, order labs, and provide brief therapeutic interventions. She may also recommend more holistic treatments such as nutritional supplements, dietary interventions, or referrals for specialized care. Development of each client’s treatment plan is an ongoing collaboration between the client and clinician. Mia always aims to provide clients with her rationale for recommending an intervention including the strength of clinical research to support them.
While Mia’s primary area of clinical expertise is in child & adolescent mental health, she applies that fundamental understanding of psychological development and attachment theory to patients of all ages. Mia supports clients experiencing a broad range of mental health issues, with a particular focus on individuals with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Trauma/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
With each session, she aims to create a collaborative environment in which she partners with clients to help them develop a deeper understanding of their symptoms as well as an ability to communicate their needs to others. As a member of the neurodivergent community, Mia has personally experienced many of the day-to-day challenges neurodivergent individuals may struggle with firsthand. Her own late diagnosis and subsequent difficulty accessing appropriate care providers drove her to pursue a career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is honored by each client who chooses to share their story with her.
