Licensed Professional Counselor
Kris serves as the Clinical Director at Bridges in addition to continuing his passion for individual clinical work. He received his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University and has spent 16 years in the field of counseling in a variety of settings, including outpatient psychotherapy, college student wellness, juvenile corrections, adolescent residential treatment, and adult community mental health. He also has spent time as an adjunct faculty member at Alaska Pacific University.
One of Kris' primary specialties is working with teenagers, young adults, and their families as they face unique challenges and issues that arise during adolescence and young adulthood. Kris works to discuss and normalize the set of pressures young people face as they emerge into adulthood and provide a supportive environment for someone to create a path that works within their life goals and values. Kris seeks to help individuals identify – and work at living within – their own value system outside of normal societal pressures.
He additionally provides individual psychotherapy to adults of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment difficulties, relationship problems, and significant life changes. Kris’ therapy practice also includes working with candidates for bariatric surgery, post-bariatric patients, and others struggling with weight loss and nutrition on the psychological components of eating, exercise, and related behavioral change. Much of Kris’ general work with patients focuses on empowering individuals to meet their own personal needs while recognizing and changing unproductive thought and behavior patterns.
Kris is an avid runner in his free time.
